Chapter One

I survived a rare brain tumor.
Then I had to learn how to live again.

When you go through complex brain surgery and come out the other side, your perspective on health shifts permanently. You stop caring about marketing claims. You stop trusting labels at face value. You start asking one question: does this actually work, and can I see the research that proves it?

Recovery taught me that the body is built to heal itself. But it needs the right inputs. Not a cabinet full of supplements with impressive labels and sub-clinical doses. Not proprietary blends hiding the fact that the most expensive ingredient is present in trace amounts. Real ingredients, at real doses, that the research actually supports.

Sleep was the first thing I needed to fix. And everything I tried failed for the same reason: the products were not built to work. They were built to sell.

Chapter Two

Here is what nobody in the supplement industry wants you to think about. The influencers with millions of followers who recommend sleep supplements? Many of them have equity stakes or advisory deals with the brands they promote. The podcasters who spend forty-five minutes breaking down the "science" behind a product, then drop an affiliate link? That is not education. That is a sales pitch dressed up in a lab coat.

I watched these celebrity health experts recommend products with proprietary blends, sub-clinical doses, and filler ingredients to audiences of millions. Products where the most expensive ingredient was present at 10% of the researched dose so the company could protect its margins. They knew. The research was public. The doses were published. They recommended the products anyway.

What dose did they use? What was the mechanism? What was the effect size? I built a spreadsheet of every ingredient with clinical evidence for sleep, sorted by what actually works at what dose. Most of the popular ingredients on the market did not make the cut.
